PALM BEACH COUNTY AUTHOR EXPLORES GRIEF, GUILT, AND FAMILY TRAUMA IN COASTAL SUSPENSE NOVEL ‘THE UNFORGIVABLE TRUTH,’ RELEASING NOVEMBER 8
Set against the windswept shores of Jupiter, Tequesta, and Hobe Sound, the psychological drama unravels the aftermath of a devastating disappearance and the lies told to survive.
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL [October 22, 2026] - Local author John Manrique announces the forthcoming launch of his latest novel, The Unforgivable Truth, available digitally on Amazon, November 8, with paperback following on November 20. This is Manrique’s first mystery/thriller, and the story explores the lengths a person will go to protect those they love. West Palm Beach and popular locations throughout northern Palm Beach County play a major role, creating the atmosphere and emotion where the suspense unfolds.
When Penn Thompson’s neatly folded suit is discovered near the tide line on Jupiter Beach, his wife, Laura, is left behind to navigate a suffocating void. Trapped between guilt and anger, she retreats with her young daughter to her father’s home in Hobe Sound where she slowly begins to waste away. As ambiguous loss hardens into years of self-imposed isolation, Jim Wallace, Laura’s father and Jupiter’s retired postmaster, is determined to find a way to save his daughter. When Jim spots a haunting silhouette in the background of a friend’s vacation photo that resembles his assumed-dead son-in-law, his world tilts on its axis. Jim launches a desperate mission that pulls him into a web of family secrets and painful choices.
"The Unforgivable Truth was born from a question I asked myself when I first became a father," says Manrique, who retired last December after working nearly 30 years in Florida real estate. "’How far would I go to protect my family?’ I took that question to the extreme in this novel, and used the sunny veneer of where I’ve lived for more than 25 years to dig into the shadows of pain, loss, and sacrifice. Life is like South Florida, the beauty we see on the surface may mask a dangerous dark side.”
The Unforgivable Truth is the first in Manrique’s upcoming “Sun & Sin Mysteries Series.” There are four novels planned, and all will be rooted in Palm Beach County. The second in the series, Trash Man Murders, is scheduled to launch in Spring 2027.
